Xiaomi , known as the smartphone and tablet brand , officially entered the automotive market by launching its first electric car, SU7 , in recent weeks. The company managed to attract attention with its first model. This has even led some manufacturers to revamp their price lists. Today, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun made statements about Xiaomi SU7 , including the number of orders . Here are the details…
The number of Xiaomi SU7 orders exceeded 70 thousand
Xiaomi currently sells its electric vehicle model SU7 in 59 stores in 28 cities in China. The starting price of the vehicle, which has three versions, is 29 thousand 870 dollars , and the top model is 41 thousand 500 dollars . These prices seem quite competitive compared to their competitors in the market. This competitive pricing policy is also reflected in sales figures.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun made important statements at an automobile fair held in Beijing , the capital of China. Announcing that more than 75 thousand orders have been received for the Xiaomi SU7 model, Jun stated that they aim to deliver more than 10 thousand vehicles in June.
However, it was stated that the company will sell Xiaomi SU7 only in China for the next three years. This means the electric car may not be launched globally before 2027. Of course, plans may change.
New production facility introduced
Xiaomi also announced its new production facility for SU7 . It was stated that more than 700 fully automated robots work in this facility, which covers an area of 718 thousand square kilometers . However, the company also shared the information that one SU7 is produced every 76 seconds (1 minute 16 seconds).
